What if I change my mind...

What if I change my mind...

Sarasvati is the Goddess of Creative expression. She’s the power behind all artistry. When we are able to find the right words, or move someone with the truth of our words or song they say “Sarasvati is dancing on your tongue”.
Right now, as we enter the final part of Navaratri it’s a special time to call forth and celebrate Sarasvati, Goddess of Language, Music, Writing, The Arts.
One of the things that has held me back in the past from expressing myself and sharing more of my thoughts, writing et al, is the concern “What if I’m wrong?”
I have, from time to time, refrained from speaking my truth in the moment out of fear that I might somehow be mistaken… It’s like, I hold myself back in anticipation of being embarrassed when inevitably some important detail that I had overlooked comes to light.
But what if, we allowed ourselves to change our mind? What if we didn’t have to get it all right?

Attitude of Abundance...

Attitude of Abundance...

During this part of Navaratri, it is customary to celebrate and honour the Maha Laksmi. She is Sri - auspiciousness itself and the embodiment of beauty, fertility and abundance.
It feels so fitting that where I am it has rained for the past two days… A delicious soaking rain, that has made the ground all muddy. Laksmi is always pictured with water sprinkling around her (sprayed by white elephants usually, as she floats on a lotus), symbolising her as that energy which nourishes the Earth and brings vitality to life. She’s the creative energy of gardening and cooking and wildlife and forests. She’s that blessing force which causes a bud to bloom and fruit to ripen.

I’ve been thinking about my ‘why’…

I’ve been thinking about my ‘why’…

Connection.
That’s one of my values.
To me, Connection is to feel a sense of belonging and being accepted and appreciated - just as I am. Seen, heard and valued.

Connection can be deep, powerful healing.
You know those times, when you’re with your people - those who see you, hear you and value what you have to say and whom you love to see and hear and you value what they say… Aren’t those times just the best? Isn’t that what life is about?
I’m thinking of some of those people in my life and their faces are just so beloved to me that when I see them in my mind’s eye I feel a squeeze in my heart. A kind of yearning for them. Sometimes to see them in the flesh causes that same kind of tug at the heart and I can’t help but squish them tight in an overzealous hug. I’m renowned for hugging with both arms wrapped round and a chin hooked over your shoulder (or face nestled in to your chest if you’re tall), while standing on your toes.
